Reverberations Mixtape Listening Party
Thursday, Sep 18, 2025 @ 6pm, The James Gallery, CUNY Graduate Center

Join for a discussion and reception to launch Reverberations Mixtape, a digital project and multimedia platform that gathers artists, writers, and scholars through the format of audio fragments that ruminate on, resound with, and respond to the question of how to build futurity as a collective practice.
The collected tracks engage with the following prompts: How do you imagine the future as a space of gathering? How can we listen to the past? What does the future sound like? Who are your fellow travelers/co-conspirators/comrades? What are your points of departure and arrival?
The project includes contributions by Basel Abbas and Ruanne Abou-Rahme; Ersin Çelik and Şerif Çiçek, members of the Rojava Film Commune; Chitra Ganesh; Bhanu Kapil; Tanvi Solanki; and Hồng-An Trương.
The listening party will feature remarks by the project organizers, a discussion with select contributors, and a happy hour launch party where guests will have an opportunity to listen to the mixtape.
Listen to the mixtape and learn about the project by visiting reverberationsmixtape.info.
Reverberations is organized by denisse andrade, Michele Chinitz, and Mia Curran. The mixtape was conceived as part of the “On Nationalism” project produced by The Racial Imaginary Institute and the James Gallery at the CUNY Graduate Center. The project website is designed by Asad Pervaiz and Franklin Vandiver.
The event is co-sponsored by The Racial Imaginary Institute, the Ph.D. Program in Art History, and the Ph.D. Program in English of The Graduate Center, CUNY.
